ABOUT

Frapiccini's work is intimately concerned with imbalances in socio-political power, and the ways in which processes of remembering can support or even create these imbalances. Her work spans various periods from the 1970s onwards and multiple locations. She embraces different formats and disciplines, but principally uses photography, video, and installation to create spaces in which to approach the matter of memory from different angles. In doing so, she also highlights and questions the role of ‘spectatorship’ in the digital era: as we all become producers, curators and consumers of image and sound archives.Awarded as a Ph.D. practice-led at the School of Fine Art, History of Art & Cultural Studies, University of Leeds, United Kingdom, she is actually Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Genoa, Italy.

Frapiccini has been awarded for the first edition of the funding Italian Council by the Italian Ministry of Culture. Her projects had been exhibited in national and international art spaces and museums among which the BOZAR – Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels; MAXXI Museum of Contemporary Art, Rome; Maison de la Photographie, Paris; Yorkshire Sculpture Park, UK; Arkitekturmuseet, Stockholm and festivals such as the XII International Exhibition of Architecture in Venice. Her works are included in museum collections, such as the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Museum Castello di Rivoli, MAXXI Rome, as well as private collections.
